So far this Summer our favourite thing to do has been to pick blackberries and plums from our country park (they get earlier every year) and then go to the play park. We now have some new goldfish so will also be heading off to the stream to find them some plants for their tank.

I have 3 boys who love to be outdoors. One of our favourite summer activities a treasure hunt. I hide some numbered stars around the garden and a prize at the end and draw them each a map to follow. It’s great when their friends come over too as you can put them all in the garden and leave them for half an hour looking for their bounty.

I love going for walk in the evening with my family. The heat is dissipating, the sun is going down, the kids are usually wound up when we start and ready for a bath and bed when we get home. We see all kinds of insects, animals, people, plants… we talk to each other, we don’t worry about where we’re going, we just relax and enjoy being in the moment. This isn’t something we can do when it’s cold out!

I think my favourite thing about summer with the kids has been, esp. in the last few years, has been our garden. The kids have really taken an interest in it and we all go out together for a few min. everyday. They are impressed to see things grow that they have planted and cared for themselves.

My kids favourite summer time activities usually involve the outdoors. They are proper ‘outdoor children’ and love nothing more than exploring the woods hunting for minibeats or trying to identify the trees. I recently completed Forest School pratitioner training so now we have even more fun by building dens and getting crafty using natural resources. They especially like making Tree Spirits.
