Scones Recipe!

I am sharing our Scones Recipe, as part of a very quick and a very special post to celebrate the launch of a bloggy collaborative “12 Dishes Around The World“. A group of bloggers have come together explore the world, by cooking dishes from a selection of countries. How wonderful is that?

The route starts in the UK, a la Phileas Fogg’s Journey around the world in 80 days.  You are more than welcome to join in!

We decided to keep things simple and made some “Good Ole English Scones” – to be eaten with cream/ butter and strawberry jam!!!

Our Recipe:

Preheat oven to 230C/ 450F

  • 225g self raising flour
  • 1/2 tea spoon salt
  • 1 tea spoon sugar
  • 25g butter
  • 100ml milk
  • additional drop of water if necessary to form a smooth dough
scones recipe

1. Crumble flour, butter, salt and sugar together. There isn’t much butter, so it won’t be as crumbly as a normal cookie dough.

2. Gradually add the milk and keep mixing. Until you get a smooth dough. If it is still falling apart, add a little water. If it is beginning to get sticky don’t add all the milk.

3. Knead gently for another 2-3 min.

4. Spread out (approx 2cm) and cut out your scone shapes with cookie cutters. Re-knead the dough and re-cut until you have non left. We managed to make 11 small scones with the above recipe.

5. Brush with milk.

6. Bake in oven for 10-15min until gold brown.

Serve with butter/cream and strawberry jam and have yourself a tea party!
