Orchard Toys: Rocket Game (& Giveaway)
Once again, we have been super lucky and have been given the opportunity to play and review one of the fantastic Orchard Toys games – Rocket Game. Yes, I was given a the game to review, but my comments are 100% mine and believe me when I say: I LOVE ORCHARD TOYS!!!! They are all soooo fabulous for the under 5s (my kids are under 5… no idea yet what life will be like after that). And none has failed to dissappoint.
Our favourites by far are “Round and Round” (in fact, we managed the play the whole game with four kids ranging from 2yrs old to 4yrs old today, I was rather impressed. No tears. Just good playing fun) and “Pop to The Shops” and the simpler version of this “Shopping List”.
All Orchard toys games, are so well made, well design and great fun to play.
But, I digress.
The Rocket Game.
The games we have fall into the following categories a “longer board game” (e.g. Round and Round), a shorter simpler game (e.g. Shopping list) and puzzles.
I would say that The Rocket Game falls into the “shorter simpler games” category. I think no type of game is better than the other, but that they suit different occassions. For example, a longer game is not ideal when your 3yrs old is tired or overexcited. A puzzle is good for quiet time and the “shorter simpler games” are great for inbetween – e.g. when you are waiting for a friend to arrive.
The game is simple:
This is a game of chance. Spin the spinner and collect a card. The aim is to collect as many rocket loops as possible, before you pick up your own rocket.
The children got the game straight away and both enjoyed playing it immediately. It is easy, fun and quick to play.
From a parent’s perspective, it is a great way to sneak in a bit of counting (how many loops do you have? how many cards etc), as well as a little bit of a “which is longer?Which is shorter” discussion?
It is also a great game for any little “space nut”.
Would you like to win one? Just leave me a comment below, telling us all about your favourite Orchard toys game.
