Baking: Sweet Bitesize Bakes (Review & Giveaway)
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this adorable little book by Sarah from Maison Cupcake – a friend and fellow blogger – a gorgeously foody blog, with a particular passion about cakes and treats! You may remember the Love Heart Cookies guest post she did on Red Ted Art a while back and I look forward to welcoming here again soon.
But I waffle. Sarah, has brought our her own adorable little baking book: Sweet Bitesize Bakes!
The book comes in a handy 7″x 7″ format (it is actual part of a great series of “bake me I am yours” books – incl. cupcakes, festive treats and cake pops).
Sarah’s book is wonderful – it starts off with a great introduction to what the book is about: encouraging you to have a go (which in fact is what Red Ted Art and our crafts is all about) – we both love to get people trying new things out. This is a book to not only get you salivating, but inspire you to have fun in the kitchen and trying something you. Sarah provides a guide to what you will need and great little tips to help you along the way (do you know how long it took to figure out, that a hot cookie is more breakable than a slightly cooled cookie – it seems obvious, but yes, it took me ages to realise!).
Tutorials
The tutorials include not only cake, muffin, cookie recipes, but how to pipe, make miniature roses, covering cakes in sugar paste, choclate ganache etc etc.
Recipes
I am tempted (finally) to have a go at macarons (they look so lovely) as well as choux pastry, something I have always thought was too hard for me to make. I am surprised by how such a little book is packed with so many techniques, ideas and recipes.
Treats
Once you have picked a recipe and technique you want to try.. you then have a host of ideas of what to make with them – be it baby shower, “sporty balls”, rainbow cupcakes, skeleton treats (I love these…. and hope that Sarah may guest post these for us one day soon?) and domino cookies.
If you are feeling inspired… you can do two things… one, you can buy a special Maisoncupcake Book & Kit set OR
You can get win your very own copy of the book (not the kit), here… by visiting Maisoncupcake, having a look around and telling me, which recipe (from her blog) you would like to try!
T&C
- Open to the UK only
- Winner will be picked at random
- Competition closes on 3rd August 2012
