Ochard Toys – Monster Catcher Review & Giveaway
Monster Catchers - As you know we adore Orchard Toys and have a good number of them already (check out Round and Round, Pop To The Shops, Where in The Woods).
Today, we got to play the fabulous “Monster Catcher” – brand new at Orchard Toys and totally adorable. Officially it is for 3years plus. As I have an (almost) 3year old and a 4.5years old, we sometimes have to adapt the rules. Which is great, because we can slowly introduce The Girl, to following rules, whilst making it fun for both kids.
The game is all about “collecting” two parts of the monster. Depending on what card you get you can either “pick a monster card to complete your set”, “lose one of your monsters” or, if some monsters have already been caught “rescue some monsters”. So you have a matching game with the added “twist” of potential losses and gains. Great fun.
A simplified version of playing this, is to start your littlies off with a “monster match” game. Then, as they get used to taking turns and “winning and losing”, you can introduce the “monster losing/ catching element” making it interesting for everyone!
From a parents perspective – it is great to practice learning colours, we love counting the number of eyes each monster has (the purple one is a little tricky) and it is a great game to teach The Girls following rules with.
As always.. We love it!

My favourite Orchard toy game is “Walk the plank” because no one gets board whilst its someone else’s turn, because everyone moves on every throw of the dice. Plus you get to shout “walk the plank” a lot.
Looks like a great game! We like Spotty Dogs, it’s a really good way to each numbers to young children, and it doesn’t take too long to play which is good for short attention spans!
Looks fab. I think the girls’ favourite is Shopping List, because they love filling the trolley. I love Monster Bingo, though, as it’s great for teaching colours and shapes and can be used for other languages, with no adaptation. (Actually, we pretty much like any and all Orchard Games we’ve ever tried!)
