Teacher Appreciation Card for Christmas

| |

I just wanted to share with you  the Teacher Christmas Card that the children in Red Ted’s class have been working on. We decided to make a “Christmas Tree” for the teachers, decorated with “photo baubles”, as well as hand coloured in baubles by each of the children. I have to say the children’s baubles are rather special and promoted some more card making at home.

We made two of these:

I pixilated the kid’s faces, but of course on the actual tree you can see them perfectly.

I made this out of light card stock, but would recommend making it out proper cardboard painted green, as it is a little floppy.

  • You will have to cut out two trees.
  • Cut a slit from the top to middle on one tree. And from bottom to middle on the second. This allows you to slot the two cards together. If using card, cut the slit at least 1-2mm wide.
  • Collect photos from all the children – ours are 4cm in diameter.
  • I then handed out circles to the children to colour. Again 4cm in diameter. And noted down which child did which (yes, I agree, quite an admin task and I did manage to loose 2 sets of baubles, but luckily found of them again).
The kids did an AMAZING job on the baubles. All so different and wonderful. Some with glitter, some with drawings, some with stripes and some with spots. Some with stickers. Some in bright purple and others with stencilled stars.
  • Cut out all your kids faces and baubles. Stick on.
  • As Red Ted’s class is nicknamed “Wrens”, I added a little Wren bird to the top – I found a photo on google, and printed it out twice – once “normal” and once in reverse, so you can see it from both sides.

I do hope the teachers like them!

I confess, that this was a bit of a labour of love. Took me rather a long time. But I am super happy with the result and can’t wait for the teachers to get them!

Have you made Teacher Christmas cards? What did you do?
