Thank you for your kind comments. My grandmother really did enjoy life.
Dawn, I know you visit my blog as well and I will be writing more baout this there. Since her death it is something i have been reflecting on quite a bit.
She was a holocaust survivor and had some terrible parts of her life, but she seemed to have a grasp on how to re-focus on what was important. It seems to me, from her example that enjoying my kids, loving my family and making the most of little celebrations are some of the ways she lived well.
This yeah on Creative with Kids the theme is going to be "Making the Most of It - Sharing the Little Habits that Make a Big Difference for Enjoying Parenting. I hope we all can find some of the things that get us to really ENJOY life rather than just muddle through.
Thanks again, and thank you Maggy for having me over here!!

Again, I will let Alissa know. I am sure she will be touched that her post and memories about her wonderful grandmother have been so thought provoking! I do hope that you find a way to experience life in a more positive way.

Hi! I also have a comment for Alissa...this is kind of weird but I have been thinking about what she wrote above about her Grandma for a few days now. I was struck by the feeling that Alissa's grandmother must have really enjoyed life overall, which is something foreign in my family, I think. My own Grandma just died in September, and although she was always laughing and witty, I think she just muddled through life. She was always very crotchety and for the last 10 years of her life, made it clear that she just wanted to die and "be done with it." The scary part is that I see a lot of myself in her...I'm funny and witty and people like me, but I find myself having an attitude of "I just gotta get through this living thing." I want to be more like Alissa's grandmother, and I would love it if she could write more about her and the way she was.

Sorry for being Captain Bring-Down! On a lighter note, I have German ancestors and would LOVE to adopt this NYE tradition!
