Yes, there is a number of ways of supporting kids to play. And “Boredom” and “Downtime” was only one of them. You have to give kids TIME to play and our modern lives are often too hectic for them to have that chance.

Actually in my experience boredom leads to kids making their Moms crazy. I think as an early childhood educator that play is great but, it is very important to give kids things that can enhance their play and lead them to creativity. I’m not talking about a wii, but physical things that help them play. Teacher Tom actually had a great post about how to do this a while back. Its almost like planning for kids play and creativity.
