Welcome back to Kids Get Crafty!! As the Will & Kate Royal Wedding approaches on the 29th April, I decided to host an “impromptu” mini Royal Get Crafty – a collection of Royal/ Wedding/ British craft ideas to keep people busy during and before the Royal Wedding weekend! I called for submissions by 13th April and decided that I couldn’t “just call for submissions” and not do a craft myself.. so after much deliberation, thinking of lovely Red/ Blue & White crafts, looking at Union Jacks and bridal …

Well… this is my come uppance post: here I am “forcing” Red Ted to craft with me week in and week out and now… he turns around and turns the tables! It all started with his Birthday: he received a Playmobil toy, which came with a Playmobile mini brochure (Aka my magazine). He has since been asking everything in it! The Englishman complies with “Lego versions”. When The Englishman went to work, he came to me with a request for a pink castle.. off I went to the …

If you haven’t met Chris over at Thinly Spread, it is about time you did! She is a wonderful lady with a busy family of 6 (four children that is…) and she still finds time for plenty of hugs, stories, baking, walking, crafting and of course sharing this through blogging! I am pretty certain many of you have made “crackers” before, but I thought it would be nice for Chris to do a Guest Post for you, as her crafts always come out so well. Also, I find it …

Hello, welcome back to Kids Get Crafty! With the excitement of Halloween over, it is time to “revisit” the left overs and get crafty: Red Ted and I saved some of our Butternut Squash (or Pumpkin) seeds and made this very quick little owl. Sadly, Red Ted decided that it would be GREAT fun to totally unpick it again, before I could make it into something for us or friends and family! But he had fun. I guess that is the main thing! And then… We reused them to make …

As we have been getting some hotter days this year, we have made a few trips to the park recently. Whilst there, we played ball, look at the stream and collected some leaves. Now, I know autumn is the absolute best time for collecting leaves, but as Red Ted was keen, I thought, why not!? I did horrify me to realise that when it comes to leaves, I am clueless. I will have to brush up!
So once we came home, I found a book on leaves. It is about Autumn …

**This craft now features in my ebook – Time On Your Hands**
Welcome to another story+ art = great stART (for more on “start projects” visit the original A Mommy’s Adventure). I was fretting a little about this week’s story & craft project, as I have a couple of “complicated ones” up my sleeve, but also want to keep encouraging everyone to have a go. Mess is good. But no mess is also good.
And then Red Ted pulled this book from the shelf! And inspiration came!

This week’s book & craft has been “brewing” for a while… I am not sure why haven’t done it sooner, maybe I thought Red Ted was still too young. Well, he is in terms of crafting, but he isn’t in terms of painting, sticking, helping and of course PLAYING! So, we embraced the craft – a great one for children 5yrs+ or with a helping adult!!! Red Ted loves the resulting marionettes!!! Without a further a do…

Finally, our first stART project inspired by Playing By the Book and A Mommy’s Adventures – who have made some great booky projects! Do take a look, they are fab. We decided to “honour” Oliver Jeffers with our first arty porject and we picked The Way Back Home. It is a lovely quirky book featuring the impossible made possible! Planes in cupboards, martians and climbing to the moon. Lovely drawings. Lovely book.
Red Ted likes to leaf through his books by himself, but we also read them together. Sometimes I just “tell …
