Hello! Welcome back to this week’s How To… and this week we have even MORE Christmas Elves. I just couldn’t resist. The basic elf is the same as the ones I showed you a couple of weeks ago, but your materials are slightly different.
This time instead of gumnuts and pine cones I used the “Japanes Lantern” fruit from the Physalis plant. It is a beauftiful beautiful orange and really reminds me of Autumn.
Physalis are a typical Autumn plant and I have seen them in a number of front gardens (I …

Hello again, welcome back to kids crafty and our leaf crowns this week… now… ever since working on the “Get Crafty with Nature” ebook, we have been wanting to make some leaf crowns. Red Ted loves collecting leaves and autumn has such beautiful colours, that this really is the best time of year.
Lucky for me Explore and Express, did this fabulous post on their leaf crowns last week – a reminder of “how they are done” and it gave me the push to finally have a go at ours. …

I love Autumn and I love Christmas! And I love that the two come together… Today I have our “Christmas Elf Babies” – some from Australia and some from our local park. I know we still in October, but I collected some gumnuts from Australia MONTHS ago and recently my son found some mini pine cones in our local park. And I knew a craft I had to make. Some of you may have seen the gumnut octopuses and although I made those in honour of my Australian friends… I …

Hello! Welcome back to Kids Get Crafty! Today I have a gumnut craft for you.. a what? Welcome to this week’s Kids Crafts – this week we share with your our horse chestnut craft – Chestnut Pencil Toppers. Crafting with chestnuts, acorns, leaves and bits and pieces is something that I remember well from early childhood.. mainly we would make little animals, similar to the acorn critters from last week.
Chestnuts are slightly trickier to craft with, as they tend to be harder than acorns. So many Germans have a special chestnut tool! But we managed with a sharp pair of kitchen scissors (used by me only) and …

There seems to be an explosion of nature crafts on Red Ted Art at the moment.. first we made our Nature Bag, then we finished our Get Crafty with Nature ebook, then we made acorn elves and fairy houses… and now.. now we have acorn animals for you! Hooray! The great thing about fresh acorns, is that they are quite soft, so small hands can manage making holes too (compared to chestnuts, which can be a little tricky). I used to make variations of these as a child. We …
