Reindeer Sleigh Gift Wrap Idea

Christmas is looming and it’s time to make a head start on all the gift wrapping. This year Scotch have challenged me to get super creative and join their team of enchanting elves to be a “Most Gifted Wrapper”! We love DIY Reindeer Ideas… hope you like this.

This is the perfect task for me. I love to make presents look really special because it’s a great way to make the person receiving the gift feel special too. This easy to make reindeer and sleigh gift wrap idea is a lovely way to give any present a wow factor that’s sure to delight!

Reindeer Sleigh Gift Wrap – How To:

I had some small square-ish gifts to wrap and I thought these would be perfect for a make over! They’re just the type of thing that gets over looked among the gifts under the tree.  I wanted to transform them into something irresistible and elf worthy!

It’s easy to zing a plainly wrapped boring gift shape into something exciting and special with the help of some old cardboard, my reindeer and sleigh template and the magic of Scotch Tape!

Scotch sent me a range of their tapes to help me with my creative gift wrapping challenge. The packaging for each tape is brightly coloured and linked to an adorable Elf character which makes it easier to remember and choose which tape you need when you go shopping. You can see all their elves and tapes here. I really liked that each tape had its own dispenser, it was so much easier than fiddling around with scissors. I had everything I needed to get started!

First I gave each boring squared gift shape a pretty layer of metallic gift wrap. I stuck it down with Scotch Crystal tape which secured it really well and was virtually invisible.

Next I grabbed an old cardboard box and used the template to cut out all the shapes I’d need to make my reindeer and sleigh.

To transform the rather dull cardboard into something eye catching I added some glitter to the reindeer’s hooves using Scotch Double Sided tape. I just stuck it on where I wanted the glitter to go and shook the glitter straight on to it. This was so much quicker and easier than using glue, with no mess or drying time!

I then used the same method to make the reindeer antlers  and tail sparkle.

I loved how it was beginning to look! Really Christmassy!

Next it was time to decorate the cardboard sleigh. I wanted to draw some patterns on it but my marker pen colours were dulling and bleeding into the cardboard. I decided to give Scotch Magic Tape a try. It’s designed to be near invisible and it lets you write on it! You can see the difference in the pen colour and texture with the tape on the left and without the tape on the right. It was perfect for the job.

I stuck the magic tape all along the bottom of the sleigh and then I was able to decorate it with pen easily. I love how all the colours stayed lovely and bright.

Now all that was left to do was to fit the sleigh and the reindeer together. I used the Scotch double sided tape to fix the sleigh to the gift and to attach some ribbon between the reindeer and the sleigh. I was so excited to see how it was going to look stood up!

I wasn’t disappointed. How cute! I think any elf would be proud of a gift wrap like this and it’s certainly a present that is going to stand out under the tree now!
