Especially our FAB FAB FAB Santa Bookmark and Christmas Tree Bookmark – they are oh so cute!). And now, as we enter the new year, I can finally share this Snowman Bookmark Design!

Snowman Bookmark How To

As with all our Corner Bookmark Designs, the basis of this bookmark is a super easy Origami Bookmark design, which we then shape and decorate a little. This video shows you how to make the basic origami corner bookmark.. and then the rest is super easy!

Begin by making a basic corner bookmark in white

First you will need to make a square out of your paper. Corner bookmarks need squares of paper, but here we show you how to create that perfect square!!

Creating a square from rectangular paper to make a bookmark corner
  • Take your A5 sheet of paper and fold over one corner to create a triangle.
  • Cut off the excess and rotate your triangle so the long edge is at the bottom and the right angle faces up. Make sure the top of the triangle is looking up and you have the long edge running perpendicular.
  • Fold the lower right corner up to meet the top right angled corner.
  • Repeat for the left side.
  • Fold these two back open.
  • Flip down ONE of the top sheets and crease.

  • Now fold the flaps you created back up and tuck INTO your bookmark.
  • Repeat for the other side
  • Congratulations, you have just created your basic Origami Corner Bookmark!

Shape the square bookmark into a “round” snowball

The video really is key for this bit. However, I “borrowed” this image from our Earth Corner Bookmark for you:

You will need a circle template that is half the size of your square. So if you used a 6 x 6 inch square, your circle should have a diameter of 3inch.

Once you have made your basic bookmark flip it over – with the folded part of the bookmark at the TOP.

Trace your circle – making sure the circle template overlaps the bookmark a little to create straight edges that you do not cut. Note: If your circle fits inside the bookmark – and you cut it out precisely, the bookmark will fall apart!

You will find that your snowball is not a perfect circle! But this becomes less noticable once you finish it.

Finally Decorate your snowman’s head

Now you can have fun decorating your white round corner bookmark. Add simple snowman features, hats, ear muffs and scarves!

Enjoy!!
