Stone Craft Ideas!

| | |

Stones – stones are another one those wonderful materials that you find anywhere and everywhere – be it in the woods, the beach or just the playground or car park.  We love nature crafts for kids! My kids love picking up stones and we love a nice stone craft when we get home. Personally, I find stones irresistibly tactile. You just can’t help but want to play with them. So crafty bloggers got together again in “Google+ Hangout” (read all about them here) discussing various stone crafts to inspire you. You will also find a number of stone crafts in my book – Red Ted Art, 60 Cute and Easy Crafts for Kids! More easy Rock Crafts here!

Stone Craft Ideas

Now to the Stone Craft Ideas
Hangout:

In order of appearance:

1) Me – with our little Stone Pets. I love this stone craft, as it keeps the “nature” of the stone in tact – i.e. you are not painting it or changing it (much). (Though nothing against painting!! We have plenty of those crafts too).

2) Aly with her children from plus2point4 has some brilliantly fun Monster Stones. I love the big eyes and gnashing teeth. Great fun. And would be a great addition to Halloween or monster themed Birthday party.

3) The Imagination Tree and her adorable little girl demonstrate their alphabet stones – not only can you explore the alphabet and practice writing, but you can also do colour sorting and matching. Super simple. Super fab! (You need to watch the video for this one, the link only goes to The Imagination Tree’s homepage).

4) Zing Zing Tree has another beautiful stone craft for us – her girls and her great stone collages. I just know that Red Ted will LOVE LOVE LOVE this and they make great gifts too.

5) Next up we have Crystal, turns a wonderful stone into a stone necklace? “How?” I hear you ask – wa7tch the video or click through and see!

6) We then have the lovely Thinly Spread with her Birthday girl showing us their gorgeous stone fairy village. I love these and I think we will FINALLY make a set for our newly revamped garden. Nothing like a bit of fairy play whilst outside.

7) Trisha from Inspiration Laboratories shares her stone craft: stone towers. So simple and yet irresistible for playing with. I think they look great – almost like a piece of mini art!

Stone Ducks

8) I then finish off the hangout with our oh so favourite little stone ducks. We made them 2 years ago and surprisingly still have all 6 – we love singing “5 Little Ducks Went Swimming One Day”… this is one the stone craft featured in  Red Ted Art, 60 Cute and Easy Crafts for Kids – where you will find many of our Red Ted Art favourites, as well as newly created crafts just for the book – in one handy, beautiful format (no need to power up the computer in order to get crafty!).

9) Mummy Mummy Mum was not able to join us on the hangout, but she did have a great domino stone craft idea, which I am sure you would love to see too!

10) And finally, I love these glitter heart rocks from the Artful Parent. She made them with her kids for Valentine’s Day, but I think they would be a lovely little gift to a friend all year round! We made our own Glitter Heart Rocks here!
