How to… make a Mini Magnet Art Gallery!

what to make with children's artWelcome back to this week’s how to… ok… so it is rather an “easy” how to, and it is more an idea really, but we, here in Red Ted HQ are rather chuffed to bits: we made a magnetic mini gallery out of Red Ted’s artwork! This idea would also look lovely with family photos – or maybe a “family tree” even… It all started with Photo Paper Direct asking whether I would fancy some samples… I thought “what do I want with office stationary?” but had a peak anyway and found this fabulous magnetic paper for printing at home!  Oh the possibilities when it comes to children’s art..

They sent me some samples, as well as some fabulous sticker papers (Vinyl Self Adhesive & clear sticker sheets) as well as some transfer paper for fabrics. Now I have another idea up my sleeve for that, but you will just have to wait!

So. What did we make? What did we make?

Red Ted drew:

A dog and a whale of course.

2 Cygnets on water, with clouds and a baby. 2 ducks looking at rainbows (of course).

I scanned them in. Enhance the images slightly (brightening and sharpening the contrast and made them much smaller) and then in Powerpoint added a frame and title (I found a fabulous “vintage frame” download):

Not wanting to waste ANY of the magnetic paper I filled the gaps with some logos as small fridge magnets and words. I also kept the “strips” on the side for the kids to colour on directly.

Red Ted was SO chuffed to see them the next day and said we had to make lots of more for Granny and his friends. They will be getting some on their respective birthdays!

What do you reckon? A great way to convert about 20 sheets of drawings into a handful of easy to keep, uhm, keepsakes! They will make such lovely presents and I cannot wait to see how the gallery “changes” over years to come! We love our Kid’s Art Fridge Magnets!!!
