Minion Bookmarks – Materials

Generally I start off with one sheet of A4 paper, that I fold in half and turn into a square, so you can make two minions per sheet. If you don’t have yellow paper. Use white paper and colour it in once you have folded your basic corner bookmark!

  • Yellow Paper – approx 15cm x 15cm (6″ x 6″) (Origami Paper (US/ UK) (affiliate links)
  • Blue, black & white paper/ card
  • Scissors
  • Black & grey pens
  • Glue stick

How to make a Minion Bookmark Step by step written instructions

Make a basic Origami Bookmark with YELLOW PAPER

Make your basic origami bookmark corner in yellow (as per our back to basics step by step origami bookmark post – but reshared for you as well here):

Creating a square from rectangular paper to make a bookmark corner
  • Take your A5 sheet of paper and fold over one corner to create a triangle.
  • Cut off the excess and rotate your triangle so the long edge is at the bottom and the right angle faces up. Make sure the top of the triangle is looking up and you have the long edge running perpendicular.
  • Fold the lower right corner up to meet the top right angled corner.
  • Repeat for the left side.
  • Fold these two back open.
  • Flip down ONE of the top sheets and crease.

  • Repeat for the other side
  • Congratulations, you have just created your basic Origami Corner Bookmark!

How to turn a yellow bookmark into a minion

You will see that turning your yellow corner bookmakr into a minion is surprisingly easy… and that once again we only use some basic shapes to transform it: Squares, Rectangles and Circles! Yep.. that is all you need!

Let’s start with the minion’s trousers or dungarees

Start off by cutting a blue square in the same size as your bookmark. I use the corner bookmark to cut around it, but be careful to not accidentally cut it!

Check that the blue square fits neatly inside bookmark. Trim if necessary.

Then cut out two small squares on diagonal sides these are the “arms”.

final blue trousers

Your final piece should look like this! Glue in place!

Let’s make the Minion Googles now:

The minion goggles are also easy! Start off with a black rectangular strips – approx 1cm – 2cm wider.

Glue this down and fold down the ends (if you prefer to have a “neat back”, you can also trim these to fit the yellow bookmark perfectly).

minion eyes

Finally you will need the minion googgles or minion eyes! These are just circles with a grey outline and a dot! You can use coins to trace or the lid of your glue stick. You can give your minion one eye, or two! You can play around with the sizes and see which you like better.

Then simply glue in place.

After this we just added some finishing touchs with a black pen – a mouth and some hair. And a carefully drawn C. But you can leave that out, if it is too difficult.

And done. You have now made your very own Paper Minion Bookmark Corner DIY!!
