I don’t know about you, but the “British Weather” is driving me crazy.. one day it is freezing, wet and cold, with a hint of snow in the air.. the next it is mild as can be and you can see the blossoms blossoming…… I can never quite figure out what to make the kids wear to school and worse… what to do with the heating. One minute we are freezing, the next we are boiling. I don’t like being hot OR cold and I also don’t like wasting money and pumping heat into the environment unnecessarily!
I love the look and features of British Gas’s new Hive heating control system – Hive adapts to life in real homes, giving YOU choice and more importantly control – it lets you manage your heating and hot water from any place any time. Apparently it can also save you up to £150 a year. Money in your pocket AND good for the environment.
Is it bad to confess, that I particularly like lying in bed at 5am, when I can hear the kids stirring and then I can change the heating setting so that when we DO eventually get up far too early, the house is at least toasty for us??? Not having to actually get up first and rouse the kids even more… or when we have gone to the park and one of the kids have just fallen in a great big muddy puddle and I know I need the Hot Water Boost for a hot bath the minute we get in… ah yes… those little emergencies that life throws at you… Clever Hive. Making my New Year a better one for sure…
Anyway, I am digressing. I need to show you some pictures of the kit:
Oh yes… 4 simple parts (batteries included for once!). Also, love, that you only pay for the kit once (£199) and that is it! No ongoing subscription fees!
Hive is professionally installed by a British Gas engineer who takes care of everything (at no extra cost!); ensuring that it is all set up and working on your behalf. It works with your existing heating system – you don’t have to be with British Gas for it to work!
And then all you need to do is download the Hive App and away you go – you can turn your heating on and off at the touch of a button or manage it with the scheduling tool.
As life with a young family, this is invaluable.. though I work from home and you would think, I had easy access to the heating system at all times, the convenience of managing it via my smartphone is invaluable. Especially, in unexpected situations – such as emergency baths or trying to stay quiet as a mouse, so the kids don’t ACTUALLY get up at 5am.. at the same time saving some pennies so as not to have the heating on unnecessarily on these unusually warm Winters Days. Also like the SMS feature – sometimes when I am out and about I can’t get internet connection, so the SMS feature is perfect!
