Make a Kiss Box for the One You Love

Hi there! I’m Melissa, a mom and teacher from sunny California. You can find me on Instagram (@momma_teaching) where I share crafts and sensory activities that you can do with the little people in your life. Our family is thrilled to share a craft that’s very near and dear to our hearts, that is inspired by one of our all-time favorite family books: The Kiss Box.

If you ask us to name our favorite family book, “The Kiss Box” (Affiliate Link) would definitely be a front-runner. This sweet tale shows us how  a mother and her child can feel close together even when they’re far apart. It was the perfect inspiration when Maggy asked us to be a part of her 31 Days of Love series! Valentine’s Day is one of our favorite holidays, but this crafty lit-based project can be done year-round! You and a special someone can make a Kiss Box for each other, and when you’re apart just keep your kiss box close so you can send kisses back and forth.

  1. Prime your boxes if you want a blank canvas. We didn’t have time to prime them when we made our first round of Kiss Boxes, but this time we did. They look cute either way!
  2. Decorate your kiss boxes with stickers or other decorations.

Whenever I head out of town for a conference, or know I’ll be working long hours and will miss seeing my girls all day, we make sure to fill our boxes up with kisses and give them to each other. My daughter’s preschool teacher told me it helps her so much to keep it in her cubby, and she visits it to get some kisses whenever she’s missing her momma “super-duper much.”

Simple and sweet, this is an easy way to help your child feel connected when you’re apart. It’s also a great craft to do with grandparents or family members who live far away. I hope this craft brings as much sweetness into your family as it has into ours!

Little Bear found a small box. He drew a picture of himself and glued it inside. Then he filled the box with a hundred kisses, every one as special as the love he felt for Mama Bear.
