3d Paper Goat
I have a super simple 3d paper goat project for you today! It was actually designed for you to make WITHOUT templates.. but then whilst creating it, we quickly traced all our shapes, to help you out.. just in case! But this really is designed to be a “cut and paste” and “design you own goat” type craft. So hopefully you will not need to make use of the template! I would love to see your finished makes! Supplies to make this cute 3d Paper Goat
You will need paper or light card in the desired goat colors! As you can see here we went for browns and of course white horns. But you can make your goat in white, grey, black, brown.. or if making it for Lunar New Year in reds and yellows! Whatever takes your fancy!
- Paper in main goat color (light brown here)
- Scrap paper in contrasting colors (white, darker brown or black)
- Pen
- Scissors
- Glue stick
As mentioned you can get some goat templates here today, but strictly speaking you do not need these. If you are making your goat from scratch, you can easily vary your 3d paper goat size to make some 3 Billy Goats Gruff crafts.. Worksheets have also been added to Teacher’s Pay Teachers. How to make a simple 3d Paper Goat Craft
Make the basic body
Let’s begin by making the basic body.
Yes, you can use template I traced below.. however, you can also:
- Take your peace of light card and fold it in half.
- Cut out a rectangle – making sure you keep the crease of the folded card as one side of your rectangle
- Along the bottom (open) edge of the card, cut a out an elongated semi circle – to make the feet
- Along the top (closed folded) edge of the card shape the body a little.
You sholud have a shape similar to the image above on the left – which opens up like the image on the right.
Draw on some hooves (or cut from more colored card).
Cut out your goat shapes:
Now you will need the remainig goat shapes, ie the goat’s face. For this we cut out:
- 2 horns
- A tuffty hair piece
- 2 circles for eyes (draw on pupils in black pen)
- 2 tear drop ears, with 2 tear drop centres (can be drawn in too)
- 1 goaty beard
Add any details in balck pen!
Assemble the 3d Paper Goat
Now it is time to assemble your goat. You can have fun with the placement of the eyes and ears to gibe your goat different personalities.
Glue in place.
Draw on a small nose.
Glue the face to the goat body.
Finally add a little goat tail!
Your simple 3d Paper Goat is finished! So fun!
