Love Heart Paper Flowers

I am so excited to be part of the 31 Days of Love Series on Red Ted Art again this year! Thank you Maggy for including me. My name is Jacinta and I am an Australian based Scientist and Mum of three, inspiring creative kids and fun mums, families and educators. I post really easy and fun learning projects on my Instagram page @cintaandco. It’s called Cinta & Co. as my family and friends call me Cinta – short for Jacinta, and my kids are my co. – you will often see their little hands hard at work in the photos that I post. Today, I would like to share a really simple and fun paper flower heart craft tutorial. These heart shaped flowers are bright and colourful and would make a beautiful card or gift for your loved ones. They can be made by toddlers, preschoolers and of course older children and adults. Making these flowers will encourage the development of fine motor skills and hand eye coordination in small children and will strengthen little fingers and hand muscles required for writing. We have made single coloured flowers, but you can be as creative as you like and make multi-coloured ones too!

Paper Flower Heart Supplies

Coloured paper
Heart template
Marker pen or pencil
Scissors
Glue

How to make Paper Flower Hearts

Trace heart shapes onto your coloured paper. You will need four hearts for each flower.

Carefully cut each of your hearts out. If you have used a dark marker to draw your hearts, trim any marker that you can see. This will help make your finished flower look beautiful.

Fold each of your hearts in half. Each heart will form one of your flower’s petals and folding them will give them a lovely 3D effect.

Open your folded hearts back up and glue them together to form your flowers. They should look something like the pink flower pictured above.Add a pom pom to the centre of your flower. You could even write some messages on the petals and give your flowers to someone special, or make a spectacular collage on some coloured paper.
