Hello, my name is Melanie, I am a Vienna based mom oft two kids and I blog at www.monstamoons.at. In my blog I share simple craft ideas for kids of all ages as well as many freebies that I do on my own.
I am very happy to have the chance to take part in the “31 Days of Love series” on Red Ted Art. Thanks a lot Maggy <3!
The craft we decided to make is an easy pine cone bird with lots of glitter and heart-shaped wings. Both of my kids were involved in the crafting process that was quickly done in about 20 minutes.
Here it is, our finished love bird! Isn’t it adorable? In my opinion, homemade crafts made with natural supplies are always the best!
Supplies you need for your pine cone love bird :
- Red colored paper
- Glue and Hot Glue
- Ping Pong Balls
- Red acrylic color
- Red pipe cleaners
- Red glitter
- Black fiber tip pen
How to craft your pine cone bird ornaments :
First of all, let your kids cut out the two heart-shaped wings of your bird. If they are very young you can also pre-cut the pieces for them or draw the shapes onto the crafting paper so that they can cut around.
In a next step put some glue on your pine cone and then add glitter. Let dry.
The head of your bird is a ping-pong ball. Color it with red acrylic paint and let dry again. When dry, hot glue it onto the flat side of your pine cone.
Draw eyes with your felt-tip pen and glue the wings as well as a yellow beak. In a last step, make 2 legs out of pipe cleaners and glue them on with hot glue.
Your bird is now ready for use and can serve either as a decoration or as a gift. Have a nice Valentine’s Day!
