Kids Crafts: Summer Colours
Welcome back to kids crafts and our four seaons crafts focussing on COLOUR! We started it a few months ago with our Winter Picture, full of light blues and whites. Followed by Spring Picture with pink blossoms, light greens and yellows. Today, we look at Summer and what summer means to us!
If you love exploring the seasons, you can also check out last year’s four seasons project, which included bubble wrap and finger printing!
(Pip Squeak covered in face paint)
Materials: black card, contact paper, tissue paper, scissors.
(You can also make your life a LOT easier by getting the “colour Kiwi Crate“, no fiddly cutting out of black boards and trying to get the contact paper on)
As per the other seasons, I prepared the black frame and contact paper and cut out the “black silhouettes”. In this case – children with the kites. Red Ted also asked for some ducks to go swimming on his lake.
We were quite tempted by reds and oranges, but were worried that it would look the same as Autumn (to come), so we focussed on our recent holiday to Austria – we swam in blue lakes, that had little sandy beaches, under bright blue sky and sunshine. The trees were green. And there were kites in the sky! (We also had a VERY handy PaddlePak with us, read all about it here).
Above: Red Ted (as always) was quite adament on “creating a picture” – he didn’t seem to understand, that it was just about the colours and that it didn’t matter where they go. However he a grand job – can you see the children flying kites on the yellow beach? The ducks on the blue lake (we actually swam with some baby ducks in the lakes!). He put a sun in the corner with rays.
Below: Pip Squeak on the other hand enjoyed the cutting up and then throwing all her bits of tissue paper all over the place!
All of Red Ted’s together.
Pip Squeak’s together!

That’s a really good idea doing seasonal colour. I need to start doing colours with my youngest.
Thanks for hosting.
Thank you! It is a lovely way for us to come back to the Seasons every few months too! I am pleased that Red Ted can identify the Seasons and tell me what happens in each one!
What a great job!!
I love that Red Ted always wants to ‘make sense’ of his pictures – Ruby is just like that too!!
It must be an “age” thing? Somehow wanting to order everything?
yep those colours totally say summer. I love the idea of thinking about colour with the seasons. Its so relevant and brings the seasons to life.
These are so pretty I just pinned them .
blue is the colour of summer : ) or so we hope!
lovely as ever : )
The sunshine in Red Teds is fab. Great summer colours
That sounds like a completely idyllic holiday and lovely pics as a result! It’s been a while (been so busy!) but happy to be here and happy to be looking at everyone’s fab links! xx
