Knitted Heart Gifts (free pattern) – Garlands, Bookmarks and Key chains

So.. a while back the lovely Liz from Me and My Shadow shared a gorgeous little Knitted Heart Parttern. I confess, that I hadn’t had a chance to make it.. and after only about 18 months, I finally had a go at knitting my own little knitted hearts! And the funny thing was – once I made one knitted heart, I couldn’t stop! I found the pattern so cute and easy, that I just hat to make more and more hearts. I think these little hearts are super as Heart Key Rings, as heart bookmarks, but also would look adorable as a Knitted Heart Garland.  They are also super cute, filled with lavender and popped into a pocket – for 5minutes of calm and happiness, if you need a break from your day (perfect little “I love you heart” for back to school wobbles, I think! Fill with lavender and rice to make it a mini sensory love you experience!).

See the original Knitted Heart Pattern here (though have copied it out below). And read more from Liz at Me and My Shadow here!

Knit two hearts.

knitted heart pattern - make key chains, zipper pulls, garlnds and bookmarks!

Placing the right sides together, start sewing all the way round you heart. I left any “dangly bits” to help stuff the heart afterwards. Leave an opening at the top.knitted heart pattern - great for little gifts

Turn right way round and stuff – I used wool left overs – nice and thrifty.

If you are turning it into a key ring or book mark, add your “extension” at this point, so you can sew it “Into your heart”. I made a nice secure knot o the wool holding the beads, which I could then sew tightly into my finished knitted heart.Knitted Hearts - Key Rings, Zipper Pulls, book marks

Ta-da…… aren’t these knitted hearts simply the cutest? The kids have one each on their book bags and I use the bookmark myself.

This photo shows the knitted heart size difference – depending on how thick your wool is and thus what size needles you use. But you can see that all knitted hearts look cute and that the heart pattern does work for different needle sizes!
