We made some watercolor resist Christmas cards and they were loved by everyone. I wanted to make some lovely Valentine’s cards to share with family and friends. My favorite thing about watercolor resist cards is that they always turn out so cool and they’re nearly always pretty!
Crayon Resist Cards – Materials
- white (good quality) crayons,
- watercolors,
- brushes, and
- cardstock. I chose white cardstock although experimenting with other colors could be fun too.
How to create crayon resist cards with young children
I drew on most of the cards to let the design be a surprised, but I also let the boys decorate some of their own.
For Valentines Day I went with hearts and the word LOVE. These are so simple though – any design will look nice! Sometimes we just do abstract drawings and they still turn out awesome!
Next, let them go crazy with watercolors! I encouraged using only two or three colors to prevent the cards from looking muddy.
Didn’t they turn out lovely?
Of course now we have to pick 3 lucky people to get these cards…
