How to crochet a Fawn (please scroll for Deer and see changes to pattern)
Start by making the legs, body, neck and head, in one piece. The belly is made separate and sewn under the body. Crochet the muzzle and ears. Glue together the two parts of each ear, then sew them on the head as well as the muzzle. The nose is embroidered with a satin stitch, each eye made with a French knot using black thread. The spots on the body are made with white French knots (more on French Knots here).
Legs and Body
The body is worked in a round, beginning with the hooves. Make a magic circle with the brown yarn.
Round 1: Work 8 sc in the magic circle. Place a stitch marker on the 8th stitch. Work in a spiral, lifting at the end of each round to get your bearings.
Round 2: Work 1 sc on each stitch = 8 sc. Cut the brown yarn.
Round 3: With the rust yarn, work 1 sc on each stitch = 8 sc.
Rounds 4 to 6: Work 1 sc on each stitch = 8 sc.
Round 7: Work 1 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc = 10 sc.
Rounds 8 and 9: Work 1 sc on each stitch = 10 sc.
Round 10: Work 2 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc, 1 inc, 2 sc = 12 sc.
Cut the yarn. Make the three other legs the same way, without cutting the yarn at the end of Round 10 on the fourth leg.
Round 11: Work 8 sc on the fourth leg, 1 ch (on the front of the fawn), 8 sc on the third leg, 4 ch (on the left side of the fawn), 8 sc on the third leg, 4 ch (on the right side of the fawn), 8 sc on the second leg, 1 ch (on the back of the fawn) and 1 sl st on the fourth leg. Put a stitch marker to indicate the start of the round and continue the body by turning in a spiral.
Rounds 12 to 19: Work 1 sc on each stitch = 42 sc.
Round 20: Work 29 sc, 3 dc in the next stitch (under the tail) with the white yarn, 12 sc with the rust yarn.
Round 21: With the rust yarn, stitch 29 sc, 3 ldc (on the top of the tail) and 12 sc = 42 sc. Turn the body inside out, pinch it together and close up the back adding 19 sc to the opposite-side stitches. Leave a 10-stitch opening for the next. Return to the starting point.

It’s made along with the neck.
Round 1: Work *1 sc, 1 inc,* and repeat from * to * 6 times and finish at 1 sc = 19 sc.

Make a magic circle with the white yarn.
Round 1: Work 6 sc in the magic circle. Place a stitch marker on the sixth stitch. Work in a spiral, lifting at the end of each round to get your bearings.

Crochet the second ear the same way. Glue the pale pink part to the rust-colored part, letting it dry. Tuck in the ends.
Assembly of the crochet Fawn
Stuff the legs and body, pushing the stuffing toward the ends using a knitting needle. Sew the belly onto the underbody to close it up. Bring the front legs together and secure them with two back stitches at the top of the legs (optional). Sew the ears and muzzle to the head. Add the tip of the muzzle and the eyes using black embroidery thread and white French knots for the spots on the body.

How to make your fawn into a crochet Deer
The deer is a variation of the fawn. The legs and body are worked similarly to the fawn, using brown yarn for the first 2 rounds of the legs, then switching to beige yarn.
At the end of round 21, turn the body inside out, pinch it and close the back with 18 sc, stitching into the opposite stitches. Leave an opening of 12 sc for the neck. Turn it right side out.
Deer Neck
The neck is worked continuously from the body. Attach the beige yarn to the middle of the back.
Rounds 1 to 4: Make 1 sc in each stitch = 12 sc.
Deer Head
The head is worked continuously from the neck.
Round 1: Make *1 sc, 1 inc,* and repeat from * to * = 18 sc. Round 2: Make *1 sc, 1 inc,* and repeat from * to * = 27 sc. Rounds 3 and 4: Make 1 sc in each stitch = 27 sc.
Round 5: Make *2 sc, 1 dec,* repeat from * to * 6 times, and finish with 1 sc in the last 3 sc = 21 sc.
Round 6: Make 1 sc in each stitch = 21 sc.
Round 7: Make *2 sc, 1 dec,* repeat from * to * 5 times, and finish with 1 sc in the last stitch = 16 sc.
Round 8: Make *2 sc, 1 dec,* repeat from * to * 4 times, and finish with 1 sc in the last stitch = 12 sc.
Round 9: Make *1 sc, 1 dec,* and repeat from * to * until 4 sc remain.
Cut the yarn, thread it onto a wool needle, and pass it through the remaining stitches. Tighten and secure with 2 backstitches to close the head. Weave in the ends.
Belly, Muzzle and Ears – like Fawn but with updated colours
Belly, muzzle: These are made as for the fawn, using ecru yarn.
Ears: Make the ears like those of the fawn, with beige for the outside and ecru for the inside.
Deer Antlers
Chain 9 ch plus 1 ch to turn, using brown yarn.
Crochet 4 sc on the base chain, 5 ch (for the 1st small antler), skip the 1st ch and make 4 sc on the 1st small antler chain, 1 sc on the base chain, 4 ch (for the 2nd small antler), skip 1 ch and make 3 sc on the 2nd small antler, 1 sc on the last 3 sc of the base chain.
Cut the yarn. Make a second antler in the same way.
Assembly of the Deer
Stuff the legs and body, pushing the stuffing to the ends with a knitting needle. Sew the belly to the bottom of the body to close it. Bring the front legs together and secure them with 2 backstitches at the top of the legs. Sew the ears, muzzle, and antlers onto the head. Embroider the tip of the muzzle with satin stitch and the eyes with French knots using black embroidery thread.
