Gnome Crochet Ornament

And today we combine the fabulously clever Micky Mouse Ornaments with some adorably cute crochet Gnome Ornaments. What is not to love!

As these crochet ornaments come in 2d, they are quick to work up AND have many applications.. as you can use them as crochet appliques – be it
- as a simple Christmas Tree Ornament (of course!)
- added to a hairbow or slide
- added to a crochet bag or blanket
- make them into a garland or bunting
- added to a greeting card (to then be detached and hung up)
- add to crochet blankets or a scarf

Supplies needed to make this Crochet Gnome Ornament
- Yarn: Any cotton 100% Weight/Yardage 50g/137yds: Cascade Ultra Pima Fine, 100% cotton or Schachenmayr Catania, etc.
- Notions: Scissors, needle with large eye.
- Crochet hook: D/3 (3 mm)
Crochet Abbreviations used in this pattern
U.S. Crochet terminology is used throughout and as you can see from the stitches used, they are all great beginner’s crocheter stitches!
- ch = chain,
- sc = single crochet,
- magic ring
- ss = slip stitch,
- st(s) = chain stitch(s),
- dc = double crochet,
- hdc = double crochet

How to make a Crochet Gnome Ornament with Mickey Mouse Ears
Begin by making the Head in Red Yarn
Start with red yarn
Round 1: Magic ring with red color, 6 sc in ring and pull tight. (6 sts)
Round 2: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 3: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts). Move marker.

Round 4: sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts). Move marker.
Round 5: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st* repeat around. (36 sts). Move marker.
Round 6: sc in each chain stitch around. (36 sts). Move marker.
Round 7: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st* repeat around. (54 sts). Move marker.
Round 8: sc in each chain stitch around. (54 sts). Break yarn and fasten off.

Make 2 heads for your gnome!
Mickye Mouse Ears in Black Yarn
Using black yarn.
Round 1: Magic ring with black color, 6 sc in ring and pull tight. (6 sts)
Round 2: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 3: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts)

Round 4: sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts)
Then 5 sc and ss. Break yarn and fasten off.
Make 4 ears.
Crochet the Gnome’s Hat in Red Yarn
Row 1: Ch 17 with red color yarn, dc in the 4th, dc in the next 13 sts. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc together, dc in the next 10 sts, dc in the last 2 sts and 1 dc in the chain of previous row together (white and yellow sign on the picture below). Turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dc together, dc in the next 8 sts, dc in the last 2 sts and 1 dc in the chain of previous row together. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, 2 dc together, dc in the next 6 sts, dc in the last 2 sts and 1 dc in the chain of previous row together. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, 2 dc together, dc in the next 4 sts, dc in the last 2 sts and 1 dc in the chain of previous row together. Turn.
Row 6: Ch 3, 2 dc together, dc in the next 2 sts, dc in the last 2 sts and 1 dc in the chain of previous row together. Turn.
Row 7: Ch 3, 2 dc together, dc in the last 2 sts and 1 dc in the chain of previous row together. Turn.
Row 8: Ch 7,
ss in the 2nd st, sc in the next st, hdc in the next st, dc in the next st, 2 dc in the last st of the chain, and ss in the last st of the row. Break yarn.

Make 2 hats.
Make your Gnome’s Beard in White
Make your beard in white!
Round 1: Magic ring with white color, chain 3, 8 dc in ring and pull tight. Turn. (9 sts)
Row 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in the next st, *2 dc in next st* repeat 7 times, 1 dc in the chain of previous row. (17 sts) Turn.
Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in the next st, dc in the next st, ch 2:
Skip next st and ss in the 2nd st, sc in the body of the dc, hdc in the body of the dc,

ss in the next st (purple arrow on the picture up); ch 4: ss in the 2nd st, sc in the next st, hdc in the last st of the chain, then skip 1 st and ss in the next st of our half-round (green arrow below);

*ch 5: ss in the 2nd st, sc in the next st, hdc in the next st, dc in the last st of the chain, skip 2 sts and ss in the next st of the half-round* repeat twice.
ch 4: ss in the 2nd st, sc in the next st, hdc in the last st of the chain, skip 1 st and ss in the next st of the half-round. Sc in the next st, hdc in the next st, ch 2, skip next st and ss in the 2nd st, sc in the body of the hdc, hdc in the body of the hdc, sc in the last st of the half-round.

Break yarn and fasten off.
Mini Star Crochet Ornament
Magic ring with white color yarn, ch 4, ss in the 2nd st, sc in the 3rd st, sc in the ring, *ch 3, ss in the 2nd st, sc in the 3rd st, sc in the ring * repeat 4 times.
Pull tight and break yarn.

Gnome’s Crochet Nose
Magic ring with beige color yarn, ch 2, dc, hdc, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, ss in the 1st st. Break yarn and fasten off.

How to Assemble your Crochet Gnome Ornament
Sew the ears to the head with black color yarn. Sew the beard with white color yarn and the hat with red color yarn.
Sew the nose with beige color yarn and star with white color yarn.

So you have 2 heads with ears: one head is with decoration, other is just plain. Sew 2 heads together using needle, red and black color yarn.
