How to Make a Popsicle Stick Love Bug:
You can watch the fabulous video tutorial on auto play of follow the step by step instructions below!
Step by Step Photo Instructions for the Heart Butterfly Craft!

- First, paint the popsicle sticks.
We painted them red, pink and purple but you can choose to paint them any color you’d like!
- Glue on the googly eyes and pom pom nose.

- Draw on a smile with a black permanent marker.
- Paint the cheeks on.
Dip the back of a paintbrush in pink paint and dip onto the sides of the love bug face to make the cheeks. You can also use a toothpick to paint these on.

- Make the antennae.
Cut out 2 pieces of pipe cleaner approximately 2 inches long. Cut out 2 small hearts from cardstock or construction paper. Glue the paper hearts to the end of the pipe cleaner.
- Glue the antennae to the popsicle stick body.
- Cut out the cardboard wings.
Use the heart template and trace it on cardboard. Cut out 2 wings.

- Paint the wings.
When painting, make sure you paint the wings mirrored so that when you glue them to the popsicle stick they will be mirrored from one another. First, paint the cardboard hearts with 1 coat of white paint and then paint an additional coat in the color of your choice.

- Glue the wings to the popsicle stick.
- Glue pom poms to the wings.

This simple popsicle stick love bug craft is a fun Valentine’s Day craft for kids of all ages! Kids can customize their love bugs and add additional hearts to the wings or glue on other craft supplies like buttons, sequins or glitter.
