This is Valentines Treat week on the 31 Days of Love and we have Otilia from Romanian Mum Blog sharing her delicious heart cookies with you. Wrapped up, they make a great Valentines Gifts that Kids can Make too!
Good day everybody! I am very excited to be guest posting here at Red Ted Art! My name is Otilia and i write the Romanian Mum Blog. I mostly write about my passions – my kids, my cooking and every now and then crafting.
Today I am here to share with you my recipe for Cookie Hearts – a recipe perfect for Valentine’s Day but not only. You can serve them to your guests or you can make little wrapped up gifts like I made these Christmas Cookies or for Mothers Day.
Heart Cookies Ingredients:
-
50g butter,softened
-
25g icing sugar
-
quoarter of a teaspoon of red food colouring(if you want them more coloured than add more)
-
1 tsp of milk
-
quarter of a teaspoon of vanilla essence;
-
75g of plain flour
What else you need:
-
little heart cookie cutters
-
rolling pin
-
two baking tray
-
a bowl
Cookie Recipe – Instructions:
-
Wipe the baking trays with cooking oil.
-
Heat the oven to 180C.
-
Put the butter into a bowl and stir it until it is creamy.
-
Sift the icing sugar into the bowl and stir it until the mixture is smooth.
-
Add the food colouring to the mixture and stir in until the mixture is a light pink.
(I wish I added more as through baking the pink colour faded)
-
Add the milk and vanilla essence.
-
Sift the flour through a sieve into the bowl and stir everything together.
-
Get your hands into the bowl and squeeze the mixture into a dough.
-
Dust your rolling pin and a clean surface with some flour.
-
Roll out the dough until it is slightly thinner than your little finger.
-
Use the cookie cutters to cut lots of shapes from the dough.
-
Lift the shapes onto the baking trays.
-
You might have scraps of dough left so do squeeze any scraps and repeat the procedure until you are oit of dough.
-
Bake the cookies for 6 to 8 minutes.
-
Take them out of the oven and leave them on the trays until they are cool.
-
Sprinkle them with some more icing sugar and they are all done!
My eldest and my youngest enjoyed these cookies lots and closer to Valentine’s Day I am planning to make them again. Maybe this time with a tiny bit more red.
It is still almost a month until Valentine’s Day and we of course plan to make more cooking and crafting for the occasion. Do pop over my blog and check what we are up to.
As I said we enjoy baking as a family but every now and then we do some crafting too:
Lots of love and Happy Valentine’s Day!
