Day of the Dead Learning Resources for Teachers:
At present this Day of the Dead Learning Resources Bundle for teachers includes the following worksheets and printables (though do come back in furture for even more Sugar Skull activities), as with all the bundles, you can of course just get your individual activity, if you prefer! Though the bundle is really good value, so do check out the full set too:
- Day of the Dead Articulated Puppets – these have been a super popular STEAM craft for years. Students not only get to make a lovely Day of the Dead themese puppet, but they also learn some very basic mechanics when making the puppet “move” with strings. That said, you can also make this with just split pins, if you wish to save time or if working with younger students. It is a super fun and creative way to get ready for the Day of the Dead. And I have really enjoyed seeing all the endless designs that people have come up with using this simple printable.
- Day of the Dead Pop Up Cards – the pop up cards are the perfect addition to any Dia de Los Muertos altar. Again, they are a great little STEAM project as you explore turning a 2d printable into a simple 3d design.
- Day of the Dead Corner Bookmarks – this is another great combination of basic origami (a great maths skills) and creativity. Students are encourage to explore all the different symbolisms of Dia de Los Muertos when creating their own sugar skull designs.
- 3 for 1: Day of the Dead Coloring Pages/ Masks/ bunting – these printable sugar skull coloring pages are great for when you are short on time. Use them simply as coloring pages, stick them onto cards as Sugar Skull masks or combine them as a Sugar Skull Garland to decorate the classroom or bulletin board (you could print them “half size” onto colored paper, to cut and stick them to bulleting boards quickly and easily). Lots of options!
