Axolotly Crochet Pattern
Come and celebrate the LAUNCH of our 3rd Red Ted Art book and first Crochet Book… The Big Book of Beginner Amigurumi with us today! This is a collaboration between myself and my daughter, who grew up with Red Ted Art (this website was started, when I was still pregnant with her.. your turn to say awwwww).. anyhoo.. in the grand excitement of the publishing day, we have this Free Amigurumi Axolotl Crochet Pattern for you! Axolotls have been a long term favourite here, as so it was only right to include a quick and easy axolotl pattern in the book!

This pattern was designed, so you can finish it in one sitting (or one afternoon) – so if you are short on time, this is a fun crochet pattern to have a go at. It can also be made with almost any yarn really – so work with what you have to hand, rather than rushing out to buy expensive supplies. And though many people like to make pink or purple axolotls, we think you can make them in any colour you wish!!
Note: affiliate links have been added to this post – should you choose to purchase via these, I will earn a small commission that goes towards the upkeep of this site!

We love this little amigurumi axolotl so much, that OF COURSE he had to go into our BRAND NEW crochet book.. not just because it is a cute and easy axolotl crochet pattern.. but because it feels a bit like a “crochet classic” that most budding crocheters love to make. I think it is particularly cute as a keychain, but also looks so fun as an axolotl plushie!

Here you can see our axolotl with some of it’s pink and purple friends from the book. The concept is to make these patterns as easy and accessible to all. Simple shapes with lots of opportunity to practice those all essential sewing skills – that many beginners avoid – though we highly recommend you embrace!
SO, if you love crochet, if you love Red Ted Art and if you want to support us, please do pop over and grab yourself a copy of our lovely amigurumi crochet book – out June 2026 in the US, and about 4-5 weeks later in the rest of the world. I hope you LOVE this book as much as we do. THANK YOU * THANK YOU * THANK YOU for all your support. Pre-orders are the bees knees and can make ALL the difference on launch day.
