Supplies Needed to make this Jellyfish

You can use any type of yarn for this jelly fish. The final size of your crochet toy will depend on the weight of your yarn and crochet hooks. But it is a fun pattern to scale up or down depending on yarn you use!

  • Yarn in desired colors
  • Corresponding crochet hook
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Pair of scissors
  • Toy stuffing (we like to upcycle old cushion stuffing)

  • Flo – front loop only

  • Ch – chain stitch
  • slst – Slip stitch (also seen as sl st on other patterns)

How to crochet a jellyfish – free pattern

Jellyfish body

01: 6sc into mc [6]

02: 6inc [12]

03: (1 sc, inc) x6 [18]

04: (2sc, inc) x6 [24]

05 – 09: 24 sc [24]

10: in Flo ({hdc, dc, hdc}, slst) x 12 [24]

11: in blo of the last round, (2sc, dec) x6 [18]

12: (1sc, dec) x6 [12]

Place eyes between rounds 6 and 7 around 5-6 stitches apart.

13: 6 dec (6)

fasten off & seal hole.

Large jellyfish tentacle

The tentacle is a good use of yarn scraps.

01: Ch 30 [30]

02: skip 1st stitch, 29 inc [58]

Sew the large tentacle in the middle, at the bottom of the jellyfish.

Regular jellyfish tentacles – make 3

01: Ch 45 [45]

Using a needle, thread the tentacle through the body to the other side. You should have made 2 tentacles. Repeat this 3 times, so that you have a total of 6 tentacles. Embroider a mouth between the eyes.
