Garden Cross-Stitch Project

The book – Cozy Cottage Cross-Stitch
You may know Elle Noon as Stitch Sprout on instagram and be familiar with her gorgeous cross-stitch designs already (I especially love the keychain projects – such a managable way to get into cross-stitch without the overwhelm of a large piece to work on!). There are so many designs to inspire you – something for all year round. And now.. I am excited to see her designs and creations coming together in this beautiful book – Cozy Cottage Cross Stitch!

On to our sample project from this lovely cross stitch book. Here we picked the project called Garden Field Guide. I picked it, because not only is the whole composition of this garden themed cross stitch project delightful, but, it also let’s you pick out individiual patterns, if you would like to make some mini cross stitch designs (maybe as hole patches on clothing to mend?), I especially love:
- the two different cross stitch mushrooms
- the butterfly
- the tiny bee (how delightful!)
- and the bird house!
But of course all the patterns are supper cute.. I am sur eyou can make great use ofthese as one design, or individually!
Garden Field Guide
Every gardener has their essentials: a good trowel, a sturdy pair of gloves, and maybe a snack or two tucked in a pocket. Garden Field Guide is a stitched tribute to the joys of tending green spaces—snails and butterflies, watering cans and birdhouses—all neatly arranged in a little square sampler.

Bonus Tip
LABEL YOUR SPECIMENS
Add a stitched label beneath your sampler, just like an old field guide entry. Try something like “Garden Findings, Plate I” or “Notes from the Garden, Plate I.” Use a tiny backstitch font for a neat, hand-lettered look. It’s a small detail that gives your piece a collected, archival feel—as if it’s been carefully recorded by a curious gardener.
