A little bit more about Amy from Rock Your Homeschool
Hey there! I’m Amy from Rock Your Homeschool and host of the Positively Homeschooling Podcast. I’m a homeschool mom of 5 boys (with 2 graduates!) and I love to share creative + easy ways to make learning fun. Over the years, I’ve found that combining printables with hands-on projects works wonders for making homeschooling (and life!) more enjoyable for everyone. My favorite place to hang out is Pinterest where I found Maggy. I think the world of her and I’m super excited to be here!

Step-By-Step Instructions for This Rainbow Paper Chain with Pot of Gold

Step 1: Trace a coin or other small circular object on yellow paper to make 5-6 gold coins. Cut out the circles.

Step 2: On black paper, draw and cut out a cauldron shape (about the size of your palm). Cut out a long rectangle from the black paper as well.

Step 3: Cut out one long strip of paper each from red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, and purple.

Step 4: Glue the coins to the back of the cauldron, overlapping the top at first, then the other coins.

Step 5: Glue the black strip behind the coins so that it forms a loop. Set aside to dry.

Step 6: For the rainbow paper chain, start by glueing the red strip into a loop shape. Then, loop the orange through the red and glue it. Repeat for yellow, green, light blue, and blue, linking each to the color before it.

Step 7: On the purple strip, link it through both the blue link and the black loop on the cauldron before gluing it into a loop shape.

Tips and Ideas for Your Rainbow Paper Chain
- You can use a stapler to make the paper loops.
- Want a longer rainbow paper chain? Make extra paper loops and repeat the rainbow pattern.
- Use a paint brush to add gold glitter glue to the paper coins for a sparkly effect.
- Use a marker or crayon to add the letters ROYGBIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) for a fun way to remember the colors of the rainbow.
- Add your rainbow paper chain with a pot of gold as a decoration to your chalkboard, whiteboard, window, bookcase, or bulletin board.
- Want to enjoy this craft at another time of year? Cool! Just leave off the pot of gold. Use for a rainbow-themed party or special event.
