I find that over the years, I have shared many of these tips and tricks – but “buried deeply within the website” – meaning that you only occasionally and coincidentally stumble across them. How to Remove Sticky Labels from Glass Jars

How to Remove Sticky Labels from Glass Jars – materials:

  • The jar
  • Some baking soda (not baking powder)
  • Oil – any oil!

So here it goes…

How to Remove Sticky Labels from Glass Jars

1)  I start by washing the jar in the dishwasher and getting the “main label off” – often this is enough and the jar comes out smoothly… but not always

2) If the jar still has a residue, mix 1 part baking soda with 1 part oil

3) Smear it onto your sticky surface

4) leave for 10-15min

5) Then use a scrubbing brush and under warm water it will usually come off! Ta-da!!!!

Watch the video to see it in action!

Happy crafting!!!!! Hope this “How to Remove Sticky Labels from Glass Jars” was useful!!

Hi to remove labels off anything I use a hairdryer as well as eucalyptus oil.
Ease the tiny corner off the label of the item and pull slightly. Get the hairdryer and blow hot air onto the label concentrating on the spot where you ease the corner off. Now carefully pull at the label. It will usually come away cleanly. Keep applying heat and pulling till the label has come off.
This is usually enough to cleanly remove the label. If not, a cotton wool ball and eucalyptus oil will remove residue.

I have found that rubbing peanutbutter all over and scrub with it then follow with baking soda works even better!

[…]  It is recycled crafts week around here with tons of ideas that take 15 minutes or less to make.  I am going to kick things off with this Easter jar centerpiece made from recycled pickle jars and hot glue.  You can also see even more quick recycled crafts at the bottom of this post from our Craft Lightning partners so don’t miss those.  This post is brought to you by Adtech adhesives as part of a year long series I am doing for them.  Be sure to check them out but just to let you know that all projects and opinions are always my own.    To make this craft you will need some pickle jars, hot glue, tissue paper, ink, decoupage, and ribbon.  That is really everything!  So save up those pickle jars y’all.  Luckily my bunch can eat up a jar in no time flat.  You can click here to see how to remove the sticky labels from those jars.
