Articulated Horse Template

| | |

The library fun continues! My daughter has been back crafting with the little ones at our local library with another free craft event! This week, my daughter designed this adorable little articulated horse (the template is “just” the horse, but you could easily cut and stick on a horn for a unicorn and/or some wings for a Pegasus). Last time she made a lovely Whale Template for you to grab. Anyway, onto today’s free template Horse Craft!

Supplies needed for this craft

  • Light card stock is best – it needs to be thin enough to run through the printer, but stiff enough to hold it’s shape
  • Child friendly scissors (we LOVE these scissors)
  • ANYTHING to decorate with, the kids in her session, used pens, pencils as well as gluing on some yarn scraps for the mane
  • Split pins also known as brads, so you can articulate your horse

How to make your Dancing Horse

As my daughter runs these craft session in a public library, she is sadly unable to take lots of photos for you! That said, I feel that the free horse template, is still worth sharing with you (especially, as she spent the time to create it! So why not!!). So you will have to make do with a finished product image, as well as simple set of written instructions!

horse template for simple puppet
  1. Print the template on to light card
  2. Carefully cut out the pieces (as this is a public library, the children have a grown up in attendance, who often help with the cutting)
  3. Decorate the pieces – you can go wild with pens, pencils, stickers and yarn
  4. Align the legs with the “hole” markings on the body and carefully push the split pins through both body parts. Alternatively you can use the pointy end of the scissors or a needle. But adults should do this

Finished. So cute!

Enjoy the free Dancing Horse Template!
