Let’s make a super duper cute little Paper Goat Craft! These little 3d paper goats can be made from just printer paper and some pens, or you can have fun, practicing your cutting skills by using different colored papers. The paper accordion fold, is a super fun paper crafting technique that the kids will love – a similar project is featured in my Easy Paper Projects book!

This lovely little goat craft can be use for a variety of crafting occasions – you may for example be looking for a goat craft to go with a story time of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. You could make this little Goat as part of a “You’re the Goat” Father’s Day Craft. This paper goat, could part of any Farmyard fun craft.. or you can make it as an adorable Year of Goat activity for Chinese New Year 2027!
The Year of the Goat 2027
Saturday the 6th February 2027 is Lunar New Year 2027 and it is the Year of the Goat!
Supplies to make this Accordion Fold 3d Paper Goat!
The great thing about this Paper Goat Craft, is that you can actually make this using JUST PRINTER PAPER and some pens. Though you can of course have fun cutting out lots of different shapes and using different colours. Our sample goat is white, grey and black.. but you could easily make it it browns and blacks.. or if making this as a Year of the Goat 2027 craft, in reds and yellows!
But in this video we have used:
- White, grey, yellow and black paper
- Black pens
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- A TEMPLATE*
*strictly speaking you do NOT need this goat template. As you know with many of my crafts, I love paper crafts, as it is a bit like “painting with paper” – you can cut out different shapes and experiment to see what they look like with your craft. You can also have lots of fun with placements of the goat features to get different expressions, as we did here with our Goat Bookmark (scroll down). So you can choose whether to use a template or whether to cut your own: THE TEMPLATE TO THIS POST WILL BE ADDED SOON… I CONFESS, I HAVE UPLOADED THIS PROJECT EARLY, before it is 100% finished, as wanted to share this cutie with you ASAP!

As mentioned, step photos will be added soon!
Cut out your goat shapes
If you are cutting out your own shapes, I always start with with an oval shape for the head and then “build” my shapes around that basic shape. So you will need to cut out:
- An oval in the desireds size
- Two tear drops or two ovals for ears
- A cloud like shape for the tuff of the goat head
- A bird
- Two horns
This makes up the basic face.
You will also need some legs:
- 4 grey rectangles
- 4 black rectangles with a triangle snipped out
- Also cut a curly tail
Assemble your goat shapes
Glue all your body parts together, so you have:
- A completed head
- Four legs
- A tail
Make the Accordion
This is the fun part. We LOVE accordion folds and you can explore different dimentions to your heart’s content.
To make an accordion fold, you can take two strips of paper the same size (make a square body) or one large strip and one half the width (to make a rectangular body).

Grab the two long strips of paper and glue both ends together at a 90° angle. Wait until dry. Then fold the bottom strip over the top strip of paper. The strips of paper remain at a 90° angle. Keep on folding the bottom strip of paper over the top one until the end of each strip.
(NOTE: image borrowed from another craft, your accordion fold will be much chunkier).
Final assembly
Now glue the head and the legs to your accoridion!
And finished.
