Fun with DIY Cactus Cards this Valentine's Day

Giving flowers is common for Valentine’s Day and while they are lovely, we’ve opted for the Valentine Cactus. This craft uses so few materials, and a cardboard box will likely make enough of these little guys for the whole class!

To make a Cactus Valentine’s you will need:

How to make your Cactus Valentine’s

Create it!

We show the simple steps it takes to make a Cardboard Cactus Valentine’s Card.. though the steps show only ONE cactus… of course cut out many shapes in one go and paint at once. It is easy to make a WHOLE set of these Cactii cards for Classroom friends if required!

Start with your cardboard cactus

Easy Step by Step Cardboard Cactus!

Step 1: From cardboard, cut out a cactus shape.

Step 2: Paint the cactus shape green and allow to dry.

Step 3: To the top and bottom of the painted cactus, cut a small snip so the top and bottom cuts line up.

Step 4: Tie a knot on one end of a piece of yarn and place it in the first cut. Bring it down and wrap it around the back so the yarn can be wrapped top to bottom again.

Time to make your Cactus Heart Pot

Easy Step by Step Cardboard Cactus!

Step 5: Cut a trapezoid and a thin rectangle from cardboard.

Step 6: Paint the trapezoid and rectangle and allow to dry.

Step 7: Glue the rectangle to the top of the trapezoid to create a pot for the cactus.

Step 8: Glue the cactus to the pot.

Step 9: Cut a heart from cardstock and glue it to the pot.
