Cactus Valentine’s Cards
Welcome back to Start Creative Studio and a lovely Cactus Valentine’s Cards she has made!! I love Cactii – they are such a fun motive. And some Cactus Puns & Jokes and you have a great Valentine’s Day Card for Kids!
See all of Start Creative Studio’s guest posts here – I love how her work is fun, easy and uses a range of basic/ accessible materials. Great for the eco conscious crafter too!
Giving flowers is common for Valentine’s Day and while they are lovely, we’ve opted for the Valentine Cactus. This craft uses so few materials, and a cardboard box will likely make enough of these little guys for the whole class!
To make a Cactus Valentine’s you will need:
- Colored Cardstock
Favourite Cactus Valentine’s Puns/ Jokes to go with your card
- “You are on point”
- “I am Stuck on You”
- “Free Hugs”
- “Looking Sharp”
- “I am glad I p(r)icked you”
- “You are fan-cactus”
- “We stick together”
How to make your Cactus Valentine’s
We show the simple steps it takes to make a Cardboard Cactus Valentine’s Card.. though the steps show only ONE cactus… of course cut out many shapes in one go and paint at once. It is easy to make a WHOLE set of these Cactii cards for Classroom friends if required!
Start with your cardboard cactus
Step 1: From cardboard, cut out a cactus shape.
Step 2: Paint the cactus shape green and allow to dry.
Step 3: To the top and bottom of the painted cactus, cut a small snip so the top and bottom cuts line up.
Step 4: Tie a knot on one end of a piece of yarn and place it in the first cut. Bring it down and wrap it around the back so the yarn can be wrapped top to bottom again.
Time to make your Cactus Heart Pot
Step 5: Cut a trapezoid and a thin rectangle from cardboard.
Step 6: Paint the trapezoid and rectangle and allow to dry.
Step 7: Glue the rectangle to the top of the trapezoid to create a pot for the cactus.
Step 8: Glue the cactus to the pot.
Step 9: Cut a heart from cardstock and glue it to the pot.
A fun way to tell your Valentine that they are “looking sharp” or that “I’m sticking with you!”
