It was really hard to choose which Harry Potter crochet pattern to choose from. There are soooo many cute patterns, from Harry himself of course (skill level 2), but I was also so so so tempted by POMONA SPROUT (Skill level 2), one of the magical companions, I mean, BUCKBEAK, right??? and one of the enchanted artifacts (the crochet WINGED KEYS are sooo cute, and would make adorable Harry Potter Christmas Ornaments!).
I finally settled on Albus Dumbledore himself. He is a Skill level 3 – so a little more advances, but you can check the crochet stitches required below to get a feel for how difficult you think he will be to crochet. I love the indication of the skills level, so everyone can find something to do!
From the Book Itself
So about Albus Dumbledore. Here is an excerpt from the book itself – this shows you a typical introduction to each of the Harry Potter makes. You can get the Harry Potter: The Official Book of Crochet Amigurumi in good bookstores and online.
“Albus Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts, and a fierce protector, adviser, and friend to Harry Potter. Dumbledore founded the Order of the Phoenix to fight Voldemort and his Death Eaters in both Wizarding Wars, and inspired Dumbledore’s Army, formed by Hermione Granger and Harry Potter.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone costume designer Judianna Makovsky was given the brief that Dumbledore, played by Richard Harris, was a clotheshorse, and so dressed him in thick robes of silkscreened velvets embroidered with Celtic symbols. With Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, new costume designer Jany Temime saw Michael Gambon, who took over the role, as “an old hippie, though still chic.” She dressed this version in layers of purple and lavender tie-dyed silks and a tasseled, flattened hat, and tied up his beard. When Dumbledore was injured in pursuit of a Horcrux, the color was washed out of his robes, and the hat was removed, giving Dumbledore a look of vulnerability.
Draped in purple robes accented with tasteful yellow edges and topped with his iconic tassel hat, this amigurumi Professor Dumbledore is ready to announce the winner of this year’s House Cup. His long gray beard is crafted using a mix of different crochet stitches to add texture and charm, reflecting the character’s aged wisdom and kind demeanor. Celebrate the magic of handmade crafting with this extraordinary amigurumi doll of the beloved Hogwarts headmaster.“
