How to make the Dreidel
Making a fuse bead spinner toy is really easy!!
- Follow the pattern
- Iron it – we like to iron it on both sides, to make sure the beads are well fused. Just take care, not to melt one half more than the other half and therefore “imbalance” the dreidel
- While the beads are still warm, insert the tooth pick. Note – you only want it to go about 1/4 of the way in. Else it will be very hard to get spinning. It may take a little trial and error
PLAY!
As mentioned, you only need the spinner and the coins make the dreidel and play the game. There are 4 sides of a more classic looking dreidel, but these are just for cratfing/ decorating, you don’t need them for the game.
How to play the Dreidel Game
RULES:
1. Each player puts 1 piece of gelt in the centre ‘pot’. (You can use the gold coins in this template or any other counters or
small candy).
2. The players take turns spinning the dreidel and add/remove gelt from the pot depending on the letter that the
dreidel lands on (see above directions for each letter).
3. If the ‘pot’ becomes empty everyone adds one piece of gelt.
4. If a player
runs out of gelt they are out of the game.
5. Play for as long as you like or until there is one clear winner holding all the gelt.
Note: There are enough coins for a 2 player game, if more people are playing they will need to make more coins. (Or perhaps each child could make their own spinner and coin set) or alternatively use candy and sweets instead of the Fuse Bead Gelt.
