January 26, 2017

As we progress through the 31 Days of Love Guest post series, I am excited to have the wonderful se7en guest post for us today. It is appropriate that se7en guest posts today -as it has been about 7 years since I first came across her blog (wow! I a feel old now!!) and I have been a fan of her work every since! It is always arty, bright and colourful and oh so fun. I do hope you enjoy her Valentines Craft for Kids today! I love that her ideas work for a range of ages and everyone can join in and have fun!

Patchwork Heart Puppets for Valentine’s Day

My children like nothing more than creating something that they can play with… so this Valentines Day we decided to make Patchwork Puppets for Valentine’s Day. Our craft projects tend to be collage projects, all the materials we might need popped onto the table and after an afternoon of making and creating we were ready to show you how we made our puppets.

Se7en Steps to a Patchwork Puppet

We began by cutting out our heart shapes from cardboard saved from packaging boxes.

Then we threaded beads onto craft string… to create arms and legs for our happy hearts.

Keeping it simple, we just taped the arms and legs onto the back of the hearts.

Then we used glue and fabric scraps. To cover the hearts and create an almost instant patchwork. Also, we tend to water down our project glue, adding about a third more water than glue and stirring until it is mixed in… it is just a little easier to apply thinner glue, especially when some little glue lovers really like to use a LOT of glue.

We added faces, with buttons and pipe cleaners.

Sprinkles of glitter… because love needs all sorts of shimmer.

We added a skewer so that we could play with our puppets. They were left to dry overnight, and were ready to play with upon waking up.
