STEPHANIE DANCING HEART

I’m Trixi I love designing softies and I love teaching kids all over the world to sew softies too.  You can find me over at Sew a Softie and you can find lots of softie tutorials at Coloured Buttons.

Meet Stephanie Dancing Heart, she virtually insisted that she be my Valentine’s project for Red Ted Art’s 31 days of love. There was no way she was going to miss it. And she’s stubborn…once she sets her mind on something it’s pretty hard to dissuade her. She looked me in the eye and said through those long lipstick red eyelashes, “everyone needs a dancing heart, everyone.” Who can argue with that ? One thing I can say though is that once you hook up with Stephanie, you’ll not only have a dancing heart, you’ll have a friend for life. Hope you enjoy getting to know her…here she is.

To make your friendly Heart Softie, you will need:

  • 10″ X 7″ red felt
  • 6″ X 6″ pink felt
  • White and blue felt for eyes
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Pins
  • Stuffing
  • Glue

How to make your Heart Softie

Download and cut out the templates. Trace the back of Stephanie’s body onto the red felt. Trace the front of her body and her dancing shoes onto the pink felt. Cut out her eyes. I’ve cut out 1″ diameter circles from white felt and punched out the pupils from blue felt.

Glue on her eyes. Use two small stitches from black thread to sew her mouth on.

Pin together the front and back of Stephanie’s body. Sew around her body leaving an opening for stuffing as indicated on the template.

Stuff and sew the opening closed.

Fringe and fold down her eyelashes. Glue on her dancing shoes. I’ve glued three diamantés onto each shoe to give them that glitzy dancing look.

Now your Stephanie Dancing Heart is ready for Valentine’s Day. I hope she enjoys herself.
