Paper Tube Jack O’ Lantern
There are so many ways to use paper tubes to create something fun! We added some yarn threading to turn a paper tube into a Jack o’ Lantern.
Start with:
- Paper Tube
- Yarn
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Black Cardstock
- Pipe Cleaner
- Single Hole Paper Punch
- Scissors
How to make a Paper Tube Pumpkin
Create it!
Step 1: Paint a paper tube orange and allow it to dry.
Step 2: Cut the paper tube in half.
Step 3: Using the paper punch, punch along the top perimeter of one half of the painted paper tube.
Step 4: Cut a piece of yarn and tie a knot at one end. We tied a knot several times to make sure it was large enough so that it didn’t slip through the paper punched hole.
Step 5: Thread the yarn from hole punch to hole punch until the top is covered. Wrap a bit of tape at the end of the yarn to make it easier to thread through the holes if you’d like.
Step 6: Tie a knot at the end of the yarn and cut off any remaining yarn.
Step 7: Cut a Jack o’ Lantern face from black cardstock and glue to the paper tube.
Step 8: Place a pipe cleaner through one string of yarn and fold it over to create a stem
Step 9: Wrap any remaining portion of pipe cleaner around a pencil to create a twisty vine.
Each paper tube makes two pumpkins so go ahead and make a whole patch of these cute little guys – such a fun decoration for Halloween!
