The warm colors of Autumn are so beautiful to work with and incorporate into art! We had several shades of orange yarn and decided to try a variation on string art for this pumpkin craft.
For your Yarn Art Pumpkin, you will need:
- Paper Plate
- Yarn and Twine (thinner yarn works best)
- Paper Fasteners
- Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Glue
- Single Paper Punch, optional
How to make a String Art Paper Plate Pumpkin!
Create it!
Step 1: Paint a paper plate orange and allow it to dry.
Add your fasteners to the paper plate
Step 2: Place paper fasteners around the outer edge of the paper plate. We used eight. And, to make it easier, pre-punch holes for the paper fasteners with a single hole paper punch, if you would like.
Start Wrapping your Pumpkin Yarn
Step 3: Cut 3-4 different types of yarn and/or twine and tie to the paper fasteners.
Step 4: Wrap the yarn and twine around the paper fasteners (you may need to loosen the paper fasteners slightly so more yarn can be wrapped around them). Tie the end of the yarn and twine to a paper fastener when finished.
Make a cardboard pumpkin stem
Step 5: From cardboard, cut a stem for the pumpkin.
Step 6: Glue the stem to the paper plate.
Step 7: Place glue on the cardboard stem and wrap yarn around it, gluing the end of the yarn to the back of the stem to secure.
