The Day I Met Father Christmas
Aaaah Christmas is in the air. And it is a time to get all nostalgic. I wonder what my children’s early childhood memories will be? We do so many things together and I try really hard to make their childhood special. We get crafty all the time, I try and bake and cook with them regularly, I go into Red Ted’s school and try and help out. But which bits will they remember? What will be their first childhood magical memories? Let’s celebrate the magic that is Santa, and of course we have some Santa Crafts to go with it, but here are some of my earliest memories!

Personally my memories from before the age of 5 are quite far and few between.
But I DO remember meeting St Nikolaus (the Germanic Father Christmas) whilst at nursery..
I remember being scared of St Nikolaus knowing about ALL the naughty things I did. And as I waited my turn to see him, they all filtered through my head. How, maybe I hadn’t shared a toy or hadn’t listened to my parents or how I had annoyed my older brothers on purpose that week. Then… it was my turned. Nervously I went up. St Nikolaus smiled at me. Got out his big book and read the content thoughtfully. He turned to me and said “I hear you have been a very good little girl?”. Relief (disbelief?!). “You are very good at helping tidy up at nursery”. Oh yes, I do tidy up, I remembered thinking. Yes I do help! And St Nikolaus knows about it. Pride. He said some other things that I don’t remember. And then handed me a little bag of treats. I remember being in awe that I had been good, and that St Nikolaus knew and being super proud of myself and so happy.

Now it is time or MY children to meet Santa. What will it be like for them? Will they be scared? Will they be excited? Will they remember it in when they are older?
And to celebrate all things Santa, I have brought together this collection of fabulous Santa Crafts for you:
