We love Chinese New Year is the time for exploration of different Zodiac animals! The year 2028 is the Year of a Fire Monkey (and children your class born in 2016 will also be Year of the Monkey’s!). Its lucky colours are typically considered white, blue, gold. Just before the celebration is the perfect time for making mixed media crafts with your kids! Today I share with you a fun and simple 3d Monkey Coloring Page!

Supplies needed for your Monkey Coloring Pages:

- a glue stick
You can get “just the goat coloring page” on Teacher Pay Teachers here, or why not save a little and get the full set of 12 Zodiac Animals? THANK YOU for your ongoing support of this website!!

Step by Step assembly of the Monkey :

First watercolor in the main details – the house and the money on the pathways. Importantly apply the lighter colours first ( yellow) and the the darker ones ( brown or orange ) – it would be easier to do with a smaller brush !
Then, take time to go around the details with a background colour that you fancy. Don’t forget to colour in the monkey shape as well ! – for this page I left the flowers blank, but it would be nice for kids to use coloring pens to practice with coloring small details!

Now cut out the background and the animal shape. This is great for children to practice their cutting skills!

Add the glue to the top and bottom of the monkeys head. The curl and secure, in order to stick two sides together and make a loop, which gives the whole piece a 3D look.

Stick the monkeys head to the body by gluing the top part of the head to the background which will make the bottom part to stick out more, or by gluing the middle part of the head.
