Crochet Sprout Pattern
Time for the next installment of our free crochet patterns by Craft Alotl. Today we have our little Crochet Sprout Project! This is part of a super cute TRIO of the crochet pig, crochet sprout and crochet rabbit!
It took us a while to figure out what to call this mythical plant inspired little crochet friend. Is it a sprout? A sproutlet? Is it a little White Raddish, or Daikon in Japanese? Or is it Bud or Buddy? I asked my Facebook readers.. and they had a fabulous set of names. From Twiglet to Lily (as per the Lily of the Valley) to Edelweiss to Vincent van Grow to Seed and Seedling… But overwhelmingly you chose Sprout with a crochet Sproutling if made in small..
So whatever youw ant to call this little guy – Daikon, White Raddish, Sprout, Sproutlet, Sproutling or even Pikmin Crochet – let’s make one together today!

Crochet Abbreviations
American Crochet Terminology for the crochet stitches is used through.
- MC – Magic Circle (also known as Magic Rings)
- SC – Single Crochet Stitch
- Sl St – Slip stitch
- FLO – front loop only
- BLO – back loop only
- Inc – Increase
- Dec – Decrease
- CCA – change colour to A
- CCB – change colour to B
- BB – bobble stitch

Sprout Crochet Pattern
Start with Sprout’s head in colour A
01: 6sc into mc [6]
02: 6 inc [12]
03: (1sc, inc) x6 [18]
04: 1sc, inc (2sc, inc) x5, 1sc [24]
05 – 08: 24sc [24] Place eyes between rnds 6&7, roughly 6 stitches apart.
09: 1sc, dec (2sc, dec) x5, sc [18]
10: (1sc, dec) x6 [12]
11: In FLO (1sc, inc) x6 [18]
12-14: In both loops, 18sc [18]
15: 4sc, CCB, BB, CCA, 3sc, CCB, BB, CCA, sc, CCB, BB, CCA, 3sc, CCB, BB, CCA, 3sc [18]
16: in BLO (1sc, dec) [12]
17: in both loops, 6 dec [6]
Fasten off and seal hole.
Make sprout’s leaf
01: ch 9 [9] 02: skip 1st stitch, 4sc, slst in the same stitch as the last, ch 5, skip 1st stitch of the ch, 4sc down the ch, slst in the same stitch where the last slst was made, 4 slst down the remaining ch.
Now sew the the leaf into place! Woohoo! You are done!
