Ladybug Corner Bookmark Design

February 25, 2019

With Summer heading our way, our Corner Bookmark Design collection is once again growing. We recently shared our buzzy Bee Corner Bookmarks and today, we finally have some Ladybug Corner Bookmarks to go with them (also known as Ladybird Corner Bookmarks if you are UK based!!). I have made LOVE Bug Bookmarks before, and there is a similarity.. but they are also quite different! I do hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Oh how we love an Origami Bookmark DIY!

  • A red piece of square paper (we cut down A4 into 2 squares of approximately 15 x 15cm – but any size is fine!)
  • Some scraps of white paper & black paper
  • Black pen for the ladybug’s eyes and spots
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors

Step by Step directions are now available in a handy printable worksheet for working in groups! Head over to Teachers Pay Teachers to get your copy today!

Ladybug Song

I had to share this Ladybug Song.. whenever I hear the word “Ladybug”, I think of this song that my kids listened to alot when they were little. I guess it is because we use the word “Lady Bird” more…. so ladybug really evokes strong memories of my kids as toddlers.. aaaaah. So you go.. the Ladybug Ladybug Song. You are welcome!

How make a Ladybug Bookmark Corner

Corner Bookmark Ladybug Step By Step Instructions

Begin by making a basic Origami Bookmark in red. We have Origami Bookmark Step by Step Instructions (including photos) or check our handy Ladybug Corner Bookmark video above! Or follow our written instructions here. For step by step images, you can get a 3 page printable worksheet over here:

The Ladybug Corner Bookmark is based on a heart.. ie it IS a heart ladyburg bookmark. So would be perfect as a Valentines Corner Bookmark too. Begin, by drawing two semi circles into the flap of the bookmark – these will form the top half or your heart shape.

Cut out the heart shape using these semi circles as a guide.

Now you can cut out another semi circle, with a bit extra (for gluing) for the head, as well as two small white eyes (you could use a hole punch to cut these).

Glue the head and eyes into place.

Add Ladybug Spots on the back to turn the heart into a Ladybug!
