Paper Pig Puppet for Kids
Well.. we do love an Easy Pig Craft for kids! And with Chinese New Year around the corner and and 2019 being the year of the big (or the year of the wild boar), I thought a quick and easy Paper Pig Puppet for Kids would be in order. Pigs also make great “New Year’s Crafts” – in many countries (ok, maybe just in Germany and Austria), Pigs are considered lucky and people give each other little Marzipan Pigs as New Year’s Day gifts! These paper pig puppets would also be great as story telling props for The Three Little Pigs!
Paper Pig Puppet – Materials
- per pig one A4 sheet of pink paper (you can use any size, really, but those are the dimensions we have here in the UK) – it can be printer paper or construction paper
- coloured paper scraps OR pens
- pens
- glue stick
- scissors

How to make a paper pig hand puppet – step by step instructions
As mentioned, we have made these paper puppets as PIGS before.. so I have (cheekily) used some of the Paper Dog Puppet photos! Hope that is ok!! Just replace the yellow paper in the photos with pink!
Begin by folding your A4 sheet in paper in 3 length wise. Secure with some glue.
With the seam of your fold on the outside, fold your paper in half. Then fold over flap. Flip and fold over the other. You will end up with a type of “M”. The point in the middle will be your mouth. The long sides of the M, fit you fingers.
Cut out all your pig shapes. As mentioned these are the DOG photos. For the pig, I cut:
- two ears
- a snout
- two eyes
- a tongue
Now glue them all in place. With the eyes you can experiment – bring them closer together or further apart. Position them up the face for a LONG pig face or lower down for a shorter pigface look.. make them look sides wise or cross eyed.. have fun!!
