The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Craft – TP Roll Ninjas

September 13, 2017

This post is sponsored by Warner Bros. Pictures

My kids are super excited about the new LEGO NINJAGO Movie coming out later this month. They can’t wait to see it. We love all the LEGO movies and are particularly excited about this feature length film. Can’t wait!! To celebrate the launch of the film, we have come up with a fun set of LEGO NINJAGOs made from, yes you guessed it, Toilet Paper Rolls! We love crafting with toilet paper rolls – as they are free, plentiful and surprisingly versatile. And once you have made a set of characters from The LEGO NINJAGO Movie, you can have a go at re-enacting scenes from the movie!

The latest animated adventure in Warner Bros. Pictures’ LEGO® franchise, “The LEGO NINJAGO Movie” stars Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods, and the legendary Jackie Chan.

In this big-screen NINJAGO adventure, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie CRAFT:

Cardboard Tube LEGO NINJAGO – Materials

  • Cardboard Tubes
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Thin Card
  • Marker Pens
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Drinking Straws
  • Foil
  • Glue

Cardboard Tube LEGO NINJAGO – How To

STEP 1
Start by painting your cardboard tubes with colours to match your LEGO NINJAGO Movie characters. Give each one black trousers and black heads remembering to paint the inside of the head black too. Next paint the different coloured tops, green for Lloyd, blue for Jay, grey for Nya and red for Kai.
Acrylic paint is great for decorating the TP rolls with just one coat so kids aren’t left waiting for long drying times!

STEP 2
Next cut out some small semi circles and triangles from yellow card. Trim the semi circle curves a bit flatter and draw on each Ninja’s distinct eyes. Draw some fabric folds on the triangles for vests and glue them on to your painted cardboard tubes.
Finish off the pen detailing by adding each Ninja’s individual headband symbol and some jacket seams alongside the vest.

STEP 3
Of course each LEGO NINJAGO Movie character needs a headband and these are super easy to make with wrapped round pipe cleaners trimmed to length.

STEP 4
To make your Ninjas’ fighting staffs cut lengths of drinking straw the same height as your TP rolls and glue on a covering of foil.

STEP 5
Finally use some more pipe cleaners to make your LEGO Ninjas’ waistbands and tuck their staffs inside.

Finished LEGO NINJAGO Characters
Now your TP roll Ninjas are fully dressed and ready for action!

Hope you are as excited about this new movie as we are!!

This look really good! When I was scrolling past the thumbnail, I thought; oh Ninjago… oh wait, they aren’t lego. Will be a good project for me and my nephew – he loves Ninjago.
