Halloween Cookies – Frankenstein Cookie Pops

| |

Our Frankenstein Halloween Cookie Pops today, where first featured over on our family site Life At The Zoo. But as we have been sharing all our Halloween Tea Party ideas, I couldn’t resist sharing them on both blogs. The party food was part of our Halloween Party treats, but we also packaged them up as Boo Your Neighbour’s Gifts! So much fun.

The Frankenstein Cookie Pops were first published in October 2012 and have been republished for your convenience!

Seriously. These are easy. And are made from our usual “basic cookie recipe”..

Basic Cookie Recipe – No Egg!

Pre heat the oven to 180C

  • 300g plain flour,
  • 200g unsalted butter (room temp)*,
  • 100g sugar

You will laso need:

I think the unsatled butter is key for these sugar cookies – I am under the impression that if you use salted butter, they are more likely to “spread” whilst cooking!

  • coffee stirrers (though you don’t need to put these cookies on a stick, you can just make them as is!)
  • Icing sugar,
  • a little water, green food colouring,
  • choc sprinkles,
  • white choc buttons,
  • red and black icing pens,
  • mini marshmallows

How to make your Frankenstein Cookies

Pre heat the oven to 180C

1) Mix your flour, sugar and butter together (be sure that butter is at room temp).

2) If dough is v soft, place in fridge for a 10min or so to harden

3) Roll out dough to about 0.5cm thickness and cut out rectangles (exactly as per the Traffic Light pops)

4) Ease in your coffee stirrer. Should it break through the cookie, start again.

5) Place on tray and bake for 12-15min or until golden.

6) Let cool briefly on tray and then transfer to rack to cool fully.

7) Make a paste with the icing sugar, green food dye and water. Don’t make it too runny.

8) Add to your cookie and decorate: choc sprinkles for hair, buttons for eyes, marshmallows for “bolts”, details in icing pen (e.g. the pupils, nose, red scar and mouth).

Done.
