How to make a Paper Plate Scarecrow that Rocks!
Paint the Paper Plate

Paint the paper plate in your desired skin tone! This is a lovely opportunity to customise the color of your paper plate to your children’s skin tone.
Shape the paper plate

Fold your paper plate in half.
Trim the shape a little. Don’t cut the FULL edge of, but keep more on the bottom and trim the sides. This has two purporses – one to gvie you a bigger “face shape” and two, to give you a little weight on either side of your scarecrow – for better ROCKING!
Cut your Scarecrow Features from paper

Now it is time to have fun with your colored paper and cut out lots of scarecrow features. You will need:
- Some scarecrow hair (strips of paper folded in half)
- Some scarecrow eyes, nose and rosey cheeks
- The large scarecrow hat – this needs to be the full with of your paper plate, then cut down to shape the top
- Scarecrow hat “band” in green
- A scarecrow hat flower or other detail
Assembling your scarecrow rocking paper plate

Make the hat

Add the hair – dimply fold your paper strips in half, but an angle. If neededyou can give the hair a trim too!

Add your paper hat.
Next you will add scarecrow eyes, triangle nose and rosy cheeks!

Finally add the finishing touches with a black pen. You will need some black pupiles and the “classic” hashed scarecrow mouth!

And finished! Now make your scarecrow rock! (You may wish to add a little tape, stuck into a circle, onto the inside of the paper plate, so that it doesn’t open up flat when rocking).
